Chimney Tuckpointing in Miami
Tuckpointing (repointing) removes deteriorated mortar and replaces it with fresh mortar to protect a masonry chimney. It's a valuable repair for worn joints — but it can't correct a failed crown, broken brick or an unstable structure.

What we examine
- Mortar joints for erosion, cracks and gaps
- Whether the brick itself is sound
- The crown and cap (separate from the joints)
- Overall masonry stability
What repointing does
By renewing the mortar between sound bricks, tuckpointing keeps water out and extends the life of the masonry. On chimneys where the brick is fine but the joints have eroded, it's often exactly the right fix.
What it can't do
Repointing joints won't fix cracked brick, a failed crown or a leaning stack. If those are present, we recommend the appropriate masonry repair or rebuild instead of pointing over a deeper problem.
What affects the estimate
We don't publish one-size prices, because honest pricing depends on what we find. Factors include:
- How many joints need repointing
- Access and roof height
- Whether brick or crown work is also needed
After we inspect and explain the findings, you get a clear written estimate — no surprise line items.
How to prepare
- Note visible gaps or crumbling mortar
- Photograph the joints if you can
- Mention any related leaks
